Dr. David Wheatcroft provides details on the 3 phases of chiropractic care:
Phase 1: Relief Care
The first step in chiropractic care is to reduce any pain and associated symptoms, so that you can begin to feel better as soon as possible. The severity of your pain and its underlying condition will determine the type of chiropractic care or adjustment needed. On average, a patient will need treatment 2 to 3 times per week for 4 to 12 weeks.
Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care
Eliminating pain symptoms is the first and easiest step of chiropractic care. However, by just reducing pain and stopping treatment increases the chances of the condition returning. During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, we allow muscles and other tissues to heal more completely to prevent further injury or pain. This phase of chiropractic care or adjustment usually has 4 to 8 sessions per month for 6 to 24 months, depending on the severity of your problem.
Phase 3: Wellness Care
When you no longer experience pain symptoms and your body is fully healed, periodic chiropractic adjustments are important to continue in order to avoid future problems. This phase of chiropractic care only requires short visits to Dr. David Wheatcroft’s office about 1 to 4 times per month. Exercise programs and eating well can also help sustain the benefit of your chiropractic care.
